Human Rights Expert Do Heeyoon: If Christians Are repatriated, Human Rights Groups Will Not Stand By

Human Rights Expert Do Heeyoon: If Christians Are repatriated, Human Rights Groups Will Not Stand By

On November 28, 2017, in response to concurrent public attacks and smears against The Church of Almighty God in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and South Korea, South Korean human rights expert Do Heeyoun and eight other non-governmental organizations jointly condemned the Chinese Communist government for its many years of brutal persecution against The Church of Almighty God, and expressed the view that the asylum applications of Christians of The Church of Almighty God should be recognized by their respective host nations. During a recent interview, with the pending asylum applications of Christians of The Church of Almighty God at risk in South Korea, South Korean human rights expert Do Heeyoun said: The South Korean government has always advocated human rights, so it would not unreasonably force people onto the road to ruin. If the government does leave these people high and dry, many international human rights groups won’t sit idly by. He hopes this type of situation won’t happen.

Šorytė: If the Persecuted Christians Are Repatriated to Their Homeland, It Is Utterly a Crime!

From January 18 to 19, 2018, the first large-scale conference on law and human rights was ushered in Florence, Italy. This conference was organized by the European Federation for Freedom of Belief (FOB) on the theme of "Law and Freedom of Belief in Europe, a Difficult Journey." The conference explored how to effectively protect the right to freedom of belief and religion for immigrants and refugees in Europe by legal means, with the aim to create a social environment where people can live in peace and mutual understanding. Famous human rights experts, religious scholars, jurists and lawyers from European countries including Italy, France, Denmark and England attended the conference and Christians from The Church of Almighty God in Italy were also invited to attend. #4 The Church of Almighty God Is a Test of Religious Freedom in Hong Kong - Massimo Introvigne

#4 The Church of Almighty God Is a Test of Religious Freedom in Hong Kong - Massimo Introvigne

On November 20–21, 2017, in just two days, seventeen reports attacking The Church of Almighty God (CAG) were published intensively on Ta Kung Pao and Wen Wei Po, the mouthpiece media of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in Hong Kong (HK), citing the rumors and fallacies consistently fabricated by the CCP to discredit and condemn the CAG. Though the attack was launched against the CAG by the CCP, what will other religious groups be confronted with once the persecution of the CAG formally starts in HK? Prof. Massimo Introvigne, an Italian sociologist, the founder and managing director of the Center for Studies on New Religions (CESNUR), makes comment on this.

Human Rights Lawyer Carlos Iglesias: Repatriating Chinese Christians Is Putting Their Lives at Stake

Human Rights Lawyer Carlos Iglesias: Repatriating Chinese Christians Is Putting Their Lives at Stake

As everyone knows, since it took power the Chinese Communist Party has been madly suppressing religious beliefs and doing its utmost to ban house churches. Its persecution against The Church of Almighty God is especially serious. Many Christians of the church have been caught and subjected to the CCP's oppression and persecution, and countless fleeing from the arrest have been unable to return home and lived in exile, with their families shattered. In recent years, as the CCP continues to escalate the persecution of religious beliefs, some Christians of The Church of Almighty God have been forced to flee to foreign countries to seek refuge. However, their asylum applications in some countries have been rejected again and again due to the interference of the CCP government, and they are at the risk of being repatriated. As of December 28, 2017, 172 Christians of The Church of Almighty God in South Korea had received deportation orders from the Ministry of Justice. This has drawn the attention of some international human rights organizations. Do Heeyoun, head of the Citizens' Coalition for the Human Rights of Abductees and North Korean Refugees, asserts in the interview that repatriating the Christians of The Church of Almighty God back to China is the same as sending them to their deaths.

The reports also described at length the development of the CAG in South Korea. They claimed that the CAG had been condemned as a “cult” in Korea, and that the Korean government should not grant refugee status to Christians of the CAG. #11 CCP Intends Western Scholars to Justify Its Persecuting Religion. Backfired! - Massimo Introvigne

#11 CCP Intends Western Scholars to Justify Its Persecuting Religion. Backfired! - Massimo Introvigne

Since the CCP took power, it has spared no effort in brutally repressing and eradicating religious belief, and has been creating public scandals for this purpose. In recent years, the CCP has extended its evil hands toward foreign countries. In the red-titled document, The Key Work in 2017 of Henan Provincial 610 Office, which was issued on March 31, 2017, it reads, “Mobilize influential voices of American and Western experts, scholars, journalists, and patriotic emigrant leaders to generate favorable media comments overseas.” In June and September of 2017 respectively, the CCP had held two international anti-cult academic conferences successively in Henan and Hong Kong. Prof. Massimo Introvigne, an Italian sociologist, the founder and managing director of the Center for Studies on New Religions (CESNUR), who was invited to both conferences as a prominent expert, makes comment on how the CCP clamps down on religious belief under the pretext of banning cults as follows.
